John Corcoran RIP

UCC GAA Club are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of John Corcoran, RIP.

John was a stalwart of UCC GAA and a great servant to our club for many years. In his role as selector to the UCC Senior Football team, John contributed to much of our success including the 2011 and 2014 Sigerson Cup winning teams.

John was well known in GAA circles and took on a number of roles with his own club St.Mary’s in West Cork as well as Carbery GAA and Cork GAA.

John was the manager of the Carbery Senior team that won the Cork County Senior Football Championship in 2004 and was a selector with the Cork Senior Footballers from 2005-07 alongside Billy Morgan. He was Officer of the Carbery Divisional Board in a number of roles including PRO 2004-2006, Vice-chairman 2011-2012 and Chairman 2013-2015. He was also Runai of Third Level Colleges GAA and college delegate to the Munster Council. John served his club as a officer in many roles over the past 4 decades. He was a delegate to the County Board for his club St Marys and he was also a referee for his club and refereed many finals in Carbery including Junior A Finals.

A true gentleman and a great character, he will be greatly missed by all. Our condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
